BSE Major
Geneva College’s Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering degree program develops highly qualified engineers who can use mathematics, physics, and material science to design products, devices, and processes. Through our rigorous curriculum and hands-on projects, you become a mechanical engineer that leads in your community with excellence. By understanding the mathematical and physical principles of machines and mechanical systems and how their work relates to a Christian worldview, Geneva mechanical engineers serve God and others.
Network with mechanical engineering alumni who work at Westinghouse, Swagelok, Aerotech, and Leidos
Hone your mechanical engineering skills by working hands-on with local companies by developing innovative solutions to real-world problems
Connect your calling as a mechanical engineer to the Biblical commandment to steward creation
Learn about reactors and the energy transformation processes at work within them
Study the way solid materials change and how to manipulate them
Apply equilibrium and rate process to thermodynamics to systems like power plants, solar energy, and geothermal systems
Examine the way materials experience wear and tear over time and how to optimize designs
Geneva's Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commission's General Criteria and Program Criteria for Engineering, General Engineering, Engineering Physics, and Engineering Science.
Engineering students at Geneva earn a BSE degree built around a core engineering curriculum that provides students with broad exposure to the field. Students will also choose a specific concentration by working with an advisor to decide which engineering discipline is right for them.
We recognize that our students and graduates make choices and commitments that we do not control. Nevertheless, we state our objectives on the assumption that our graduates stay in the engineering profession and make the choices and commitments that we encourage.
Objectives: Within five years of graduation, graduates of Geneva College’s Engineering program will:
Be employed in the engineering profession and, with experience, assume increasing levels of responsibility.
Obtain professional certifications and/or advanced degrees appropriate to their career path.
Upon successful completion of the engineering program, graduates will have achieved the following outcomes:
Behind each successful industry — whether automotive, biomedical, construction, defense, or pharmaceutical — are driven mechanical engineers. These individuals research, design, build, and test tools, machines, or engines to ensure they work properly and safely. Through the Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering degree program, students gain hands-on experience in the field of engineering. Geneva’s engineering curriculum is further enhanced by Christian values and ethics to ensure that graduates leave a lasting impact in their communities and careers.
Employers of our mechanical engineering graduates say that Geneva students demonstrate subject matter excellence and professional preparation, dependability and strong work ethic, and an exceptional ability to engage others constructively in workplace contexts.
